It's that time of year again. We are kicking off the 2018 Master Electricians Apprentice Challenge and we have 30k worth of prizes up for grabs. This competition is open to ALL electrical apprentices with less than 45months on-job training. Dates and info below.


Competition details

There are two main categories to compete in, they are:

  • Industrial
  • Commercial/residential

 

Competition briefs/testing description release date:

  • Two weeks prior to each preliminary regional event

 

Timetable:

  • Start 8.30am - 9am
  • Morning tea (provided) 10am
  • Lunch (provided) 12pm
  • Afternoon tea (provided) 2.30pm
  • Finish/Winners announced 4.30pm -5pm

 

There are 10 preliminary regional events (Auckland will have two dates – you will compete on either day 1 or day 2):

  • Invercargill
  • Dunedin
  • Christchurch
  • Wellington
  • Napier
  • Wanganui
  • New Plymouth
  • Hamilton
  • Auckland
  • Auckland

 

There is one final competition:

  • Queenstown - at our annual Master Electricians Conference in October

 

Tool requirement for competitions:

  • Industrial competitors will need to bring along their tool belt and testing equipment
  • Commercial/residential will need to bring their tool belt, 20mm & 25mm bending springs, conduit cutters and testing equipment

 

Judging Criteria:

  • Industrial Technical Skills
  • Domestic/Commercial Technical Skills
  • Workplace Health and Safety
  • Best Practice Application
  • Workmanship Quality

 

Prizes

  • Braven bluetooth speakers - Learn and win prizes x 4
  • Back pack full of freebies(tools, clothing, electronics etc.) - Everyone who competes
  • Hobeca Tool Kit & $250 Cash - Prelim winners
  • All expenses paid trip to Queenstown in October - Finalists
  • Free suit from Halenstines/ Money towards fancy dress attire - Finalists
  • $1000 Cash + Mystery grand prize - Overall category winners
  • 1 year Master Electricians Membership subscription - Overall category winners host companies
