Workshops are now cancelled February to March 2023 Five Locations Across New Zealand
In New Zealand, our construction industry is losing nearly one person every week to suicide, and 98% of those we lose are men.
Supporting health and wellbeing is extremely important to Master Electricians. Therefore, helping to provide support and education to our members and sub-trades in the wider construction industry community. Master Electricians has combined forces with Certified Builders NZ (NZCB), Master Plumbers Gasfitters and Drainlayers NZ (Master Plumbers) and MATES in Construction (MATES) to deliver a series of Wellness workshops across five central locations – Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, through the months of February and March.
This event is open to all Master Electricians members and their teams, alongside members of Master Plumbers and NZCB.
There will be three wellbeing sessions held across each day and you can choose to attend a half day event (sessions 1 and 2) or a full day event (sessions 1, 2, and 3).
Session 1:
Master Plumbers Wellbeing Coach, Kereama Carmody will speak on workplace wellbeing. Kereama will introduce the five pillars of wellbeing along with triggers and pressures to look out for in the workplace and how to access support to overcome these concerns.
Session 2:
MATES will deliver General Awareness Training which includes raising suicide awareness, and helping workers recognise the signs of suicidal thoughts in themselves and in their mates. Alongside encouraging workers and their mates to seek help, and where to find it when dealing with difficult situations.
Session 3:
Raman Lee and Nadia Bindel from MATES will run a four-hour “Connector” course. Connectors are volunteers who take on specialised training and learn to identify workers who may be at risk. They ask the appropriate and relevant questions about suicide and connect the at-risk person to professional help while keeping them safe. It is preferable to have one Connector to every twenty workers.
TICKETS
$39.00 to attend Sessions 1 and 2 (half day event only)

N.B. There will be limited tickets available for the morning sessions based on individual venue capacity. The afternoon MATES in Construction Session 3 is limited to 30 attendees only regardless of venue size.
