Bernie McLaughlin Announces Resignation as CEO of Master Electricians

Master Electricians, the largest association for electrical contractors in New Zealand announced today the resignation of Chief Executive Officer Bernie McLaughlin. McLaughlin, in recent years has been a driving force behind the organisation’s evolution, has decided to step down from his position after an accomplished tenure, his last day will be 24 August 2023.

During his tenure, Mr McLaughlin has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of Master Electricians, spearheading numerous initiatives for the betterment and growth of the industry and its members. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its influence by establishing strong relationships with stakeholders, industry partners, and government bodies, positioning Master Electricians as a trusted voice in the electrical sector.

Commenting on his decision, Mr McLaughlin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to advocate for an industry he has always been a part of as the CEO of Master Electricians. “It has been an incredible journey and privilege to have worked on behalf of members and the sector. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together and the positive impact we have made within the electrical industry.

Master Electricians has recently completed a major divestment project. It is the opportune time for me to move on and somebody else to take the reigns to continue driving Master Electricians forward and I have therefore offered my resignation to the Board.”

The Master Electricians Board of Directors expressed their appreciation for McLaughlin’s leadership and his contributions during his tenure.

The board will initiate a comprehensive search for a new CEO to lead Master Electricians into the next phase of its evolution. During this transition period, current General Manager of Operations, Mathew Lawrence will become acting CEO to ensure continuity and the continued delivery of exceptional service to members and stakeholders.

Master Electricians remains steadfast in its commitment to champion the interests of the electrical industry and its members.
