The preliminary competitions take about a day where each apprentice completes a variety of modules designed to test their skills. This is definitely not a daunting exercise – all competitors get a head start!
Preliminary regional rounds will be held in cities around New Zealand on the following dates:
- Wed 21 Jul: Invercargill
- Fri 23 Jul: Dunedin
- Wed 28 Jul: Timaru
- Fri 30 Jul: Christchurch
- Wed 4 Aug: Nelson
- Wed 11 Aug: Wellington
- Thu 12 Aug: Whanganui
- Fri 13 Aug: New Plymouth
- Wed 18 Aug: Napier
- Tue 31 Aug: Rotorua
- Thu 2 Sep: Tauranga
- Fri 3 Sep: Hamilton
- Tue 7 Sep: Whangarei
- Thu 9 and Fri 10 Sep: Auckland
The top 10 apprentices will get an all-expenses paid trip to Christchurch to compete in the finals at the Master Electricians Annual Conference.
