Master Electricians Excellence Awards 2026 – Terms and Conditions of Entry

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions:

  • Awards” means the Master Electricians Excellence Awards 2026.
  • Entrant” means the individual or entity submitting an entry.
  • Master Electricians” means Master Electricians New Zealand Incorporated.
  • Entry” means all materials submitted by an Entrant, including written submissions, images, video, and supporting documentation.
  • Personal Information” has the meaning given in the Privacy Act 2020.

2. Eligibility

2.1 Entry is open to current financial members of Master Electricians at the time of submission.

2.2 Entrants must maintain active membership (or host company status where applicable) until the Awards Ceremony on 12 November 2026.

2.3 Entries must relate to work substantially completed between 1 October 2024 and 1 August 2026.

2.4 Master Electricians reserves the right to verify eligibility at any stage.

3. Entry Submission

3.1 Entries must be submitted in accordance with the official entry process by 1 August 2026.

3.2 Entries must comply with all requirements outlined in the Entry Guide, including structure, level of detail, and supporting evidence.

3.3 Master Electricians may, at its sole discretion:

  • Reject incomplete, late, or non-compliant entries
  • Reclassify an entry into a different category where appropriate

3.4 The primary basis for judging is the written submission (“paper entry”), supported by evidence provided.

4. Warranties and Representations

4.1 By submitting an Entry, the Entrant warrants that:

  • All information provided is true, accurate, and not misleading
  • The Entry is the original work of the Entrant or is submitted with full authority
  • The Entry does not infringe any intellectual property rights, confidentiality obligations, or other legal rights of any third party

4.2 The Entrant agrees to indemnify Master Electricians against any claims arising from breach of this clause.

5. Third-Party Consents

5.1 Where an Entry involves work undertaken under contract or in collaboration with third parties, the Entrant must:

  • Obtain all necessary consents for submission, judging, and promotional use
  • Provide evidence of such consent upon request

5.2 The Entrant is responsible for ensuring that:

  • No confidential or commercially sensitive information is disclosed without permission
  • All necessary permissions are obtained for photography, video, and site access

6. Judging Process

6.1 The judging process comprises:

  • Stage 1: Assessment of written submissions
  • Stage 2: Virtual site visits, interviews, or additional review for shortlisted finalists

6.2 Master Electricians reserves the right to:

  • Determine the number of finalists in each category
  • Decline to award a category where entries do not meet the required standard

6.3 All judging decisions are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. Finalist Obligations

7.1 Finalists must:

  • Participate in virtual assessments and/or interviews
  • Provide access to relevant information, personnel, or sites as reasonably required

7.2 Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

8. Intellectual Property and Licence

8.1 Ownership of Entry materials remains with the Entrant.

8.2 By submitting an Entry, the Entrant grants Master Electricians a non-exclusive, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, publish, and communicate the Entry materials for:

  • Awards promotion
  • Marketing and communications
  • Industry advocacy and public relations

8.3 This licence includes the right to:

  • Edit, adapt, or reproduce materials in whole or in part
  • Use materials across all media formats

8.4 Master Electricians will use reasonable endeavours to attribute content to the Entrant where appropriate.

9. Photography, Filming and Promotional Consent

9.1 As a condition of entry, Entrants consent to Master Electricians:

  • Photographing and/or filming projects, businesses, and personnel associated with the Entry
  • Capturing video content for promotional purposes

9.2 Entrants agree to obtain all necessary permissions from:

  • Clients
  • Site owners
  • Individuals appearing in images or video

9.3 Master Electricians may use such content in accordance with Clause 8.

10. Privacy and Personal Information

10.1 Master Electricians will collect, hold, use, and disclose Personal Information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

10.2 Personal Information collected may include:

  • Contact details of Entrants and associated personnel
  • Information contained within Entries
  • Images or video in which individuals are identifiable

10.3 Personal Information will be used for purposes including:

  • Administering the Awards
  • Communicating with Entrants
  • Judging and verification processes
  • Promotion of the Awards and the electrical industry

10.4 Personal Information may be disclosed to:

  • Judges and contractors engaged in the Awards process
  • Media and promotional partners (where consent has been provided or is implied under these Terms)

10.5 Entrants have the right to:

  • Access and request correction of their Personal Information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020

10.6 Requests for access or correction should be directed to Master Electricians at its registered office or nominated contact.

11. Confidentiality

11.1 Master Electricians and appointed judges will treat Entry materials as confidential, except where:

  • Disclosure is required for judging
  • Materials are used in accordance with the licence granted under Clause 8

11.2 Entrants must clearly identify any information considered commercially sensitive.

12. Withdrawal and Disqualification

12.1 Entrants may withdraw their Entry prior to finalist announcement by written notice.

12.2 Master Electricians reserves the right to disqualify an Entry if:

  • It breaches these Terms and Conditions
  • It contains false or misleading information
  • It brings the Awards or Master Electricians into disrepute

13. Limitation of Liability

13.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Master Electricians is not liable for:

  • Any loss, damage, or expense incurred by Entrants in connection with participation in the Awards
  • Loss or damage to Entry materials

13.2 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where applicable.

14. Amendments

14.1 Master Electricians reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

14.2 Updated Terms will be published and take effect immediately upon publication.

15. Acceptance

15.1 By submitting an Entry, the Entrant confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
  • Agree to be bound by them in full
